PhotoRaw App Reviews

Usefull

For me its really usefull. I can convert my Canon 30D CR2 files to JPG without loss and I can work with other apps. It lacks of functionality in raw files parameters

Not worth it

Boring and over-simple interface. Crashes constantly. Didnt manage to import a single DNG (Leica) yet. Always reports incomplete import and takes forever despite more than 8G free space. Nearly 9 EUR for software this bad is simply ridiculous.

Not for GX1 RAW files

In was not possible to bring the RAW files from a GX1 into this App. I am not sure whether the problem is the App or "the man in front of the monitor". Anyway: iPhoto solved my problems: easy to use, fast and the transfer to the MAC works.

Still have to use other apps to sharpen & crop

Definitely can alter hue, saturation, exposure, contrast. Noise appears quickly even with slight changes...changes that produce negligible or no noise in photoshop back at the office. Useless for me as a RAW editor on the road because after setting the exposure, etc, then other apps are required to crop and sharpen. If the image is too far gone to process on the road with a JPG editor then PhotoRAW is no better, and is slower too.

Very disappointed

Ive found very consistently, the conversion to jpeg if you choose to do so will indiscriminately crop the file in areas that make it useless.

Does the basics, but thats all

The power of RAW files is not unlocked by this app. While it can open and do basic processing it really isnt worth the investment, especially not $9.99.

Bad photo outputs

I love the idea of this app. However, every time I try to adjust the shadows and highlights, the resulting images have some harsh dithering in the mid tone areas.

I love PhotoRaw!

I have been using photoraw to convert my nef files from Dropbox to jpg. The quality is fantastic and the app is easy to use.

Good but..

Awesome raw support... But the highlight and shadow recovery have so much posterization, even with slight tweaks, that it is unusable. At least thats what is occurring for .arw Sony A7 files. Fix that and it would be great.

Good basic RAW converter

Not perfect but a good easy way to process RAW Files when a computer is not handy. It is much slower than a PC, given that it, it does a very good job allowing to to proof raw images in the field. If you want a very portable raw processor it does very given the constraints of the Ipad.

Perfect

Please, add RWL files support for Leica C

buggy app

every time I develop a 16mpx raw file and then save the jpg the app crashes. Is possible to save in jpg only the first developed raw file, when I try to save the second image the app crashes. I use Sony alpha 55 raw files

Bad color conversion

Unusable with the raw files of my DSLR camera: very bad color conversion! Try the free light version before buying the full version.

Cloud?

It should nice file access through cloud technology.

Worst photo app

This is the first app review I have ever written. I recently purchased an iPad Pro and wanted to see how it handled some RAW files. This app claims to process raw files, and at 10$ I assumed it would live up to its claims! It has minimal editing functions, and the major reason to shoot and edit in raw- exposure adjustments are the worst I have EVER SEEN. A single positive or negative shadow/highlight adjustment creates instant posterization destroying the photo instantly. Not sure what the point of this app is or how I go about getting my money back. It is that bad.

Id like a refund

This app doesnt work, no matter how I import the files, says .nef are not raw

Does not work with nikon d90

Will not import Nef photos from a nikon d90. Limited trouble shooting support on website. I just wasted 9.99.

Very buggy and crashes, unusable.

Wont recognize Canon 5D files, it will load my Sony files but they look messed up -- there are blocks of the image stuck to the sides. Most of the time it crashes when I try to save a picture. When it does save, everything freezes and I get stuck on the last picture, I have to delete the app then reinstall to get it working again. This needs some serious updates to be usable.

Pure junk.

I want my money back. If there was a zero rating, thats what I would have rated this thing.

A total rip-off

The app doesnt work- it constantly crashes and hangs the iPad It wont read even a single Raw file from a Canon 40d, 5D, 5D mkii, or G11 I tried all four with OS 4.2 and today again with OS 4.3 no luck Import button doesnt find files, and just hangs with the only way to close the app is to close it from the multitasking list. I wonder if anyone really tested this app before it was released.
